Welcome to PEP!

Powell Educational Partners better known as PEP is a secular cooperative located in the heart of Powell, TN. 

We offer enrichment and academic support classes for Pre-K through High School students. The mission at PEP is to support students and families through education both inside and outside of the classroom. We encourage critical thinking and creative learning while allowing children to pursue happiness. 

At PEP we strive to embody the term cooperative by working together to provide the best educational experience for all of our members. We pride ourselves on being a low-cost cooperative while not only offering a wide range of classes but also club and field trip opportunities.

 PEP was founded in the fall of 2018 as a way to fill a gap that seemed to be challenging homeschool families in East Tennessee. We heard the need for a low-cost and secular option and so PEP was created. We are thankful to our host, Powell Presbyterian Church, for allowing us to start this adventure in their building with no requirements to follow religious guidelines. Their “all means ALL” expression has been clearly lived out in their welcoming nature to our members. Each semester has brought growth; not only in membership but also in our programs. We now offer multiple clubs, special events, and field trips. 

In 2020 we began exploring how to better serve families and still maintain our ability to be low cost. From that, our teachers decided to take a leap of faith that would restructure how we operate to give everyone who is part of our cooperative a voice. In June 2020 a board was nominated and approved by our teachers that includes community members and homeschool parents. The board has many responsibilities that are outlined in our bylaws. One of the biggest changes is that now families are considered members and with that are given a voice in making all of the decisions for our cooperative.
